Wave Health launched because of a health crisis

The spark to create Wave Health began in 2013 when one of TTI’s founding partners, Ric Grenell, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

A negative health diagnosis is overwhelming – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Doctors apply their expertise, but the nature of standardized treatments and symptom management is inevitably trial and error. Patients do their best to recall and communicate how they’ve been feeling, but the sheer volume of external factors and varying patient recollections make this partnership inherently limited. When Ric underwent treatment, his partner Matt began gathering extensive data by hand – about diet, hydration, exercise, social interaction, mental engagement – anything that might impact the side effects of chemo and drug therapy. With this information calendared and cross-examined, Ric was able to better understand what he was experiencing and provide his doctor with realtime, individualized information. Personalized insights helped shift protocols with less trial and error. They had more control. From this came our first health app for cancer patients — chemoWave .
