Honor Her Health: National Women’s Health Week

This week is National Women’s Health Week, and it’s a great opportunity for family, friends, and the greater community to take action and empower women to advocate for their health.

When discussing women’s health, it’s crucial to recognize the importance of women’s reproductive health. For decades, women’s rights to comprehensive, accessible reproductive health services, such as contraceptives, family planning assistance, fertility care, and other vital resources have been severely overlooked. It’s important for women to have access to these resources so that they can play active roles in their reproductive health journeys.

COVID-19 and other competing priorities have also caused many women to “put off taking care of their general health and wellness needs.” More and more women have neglected their basic needs to fulfill the demand for unpaid domestic and care work throughout the pandemic.

Despite these challenges, this Women’s Health Week, we encourage all women to take a moment for themselves and prioritize their mental and physical health: schedule important health screenings, stay on top of your daily activities and medications, and communicate and collaborate with your care team for optimized treatment.

We hope that women everywhere know that their health matters, and that there are things they can do to be proactive and take control.

Finally, here are some organizations directly supporting women’s health:
